To Kill Two Birds With One Stone

I am studying English to enter graduate school in the United States. I learned Chemistry in my university and want to study it more. First, I must prepare TOEFL to apply to a school because I'm Asian. At the same time, conversations in English are also important for me to live in the U.S. for a long time.

I am interested in chemistry. I want to become a researcher in a research institute and my final goal is to become a professor, researching and teaching students in a university. So, I need TOEFL score, which is a prerequisite for foreigners, in order to continue my major. In Korea, there are many TOEFL academies which may he more efficient than FLS, because, the academy in Korea makes students improve their score in a short time. They cram students for an exam. It is not beneficial in the true sense of studying English. But FLS is based on fundamental English education and teaches students how to apply to a school in intensive programs. There are TOEFL and writing elective class. They help me to prepare myself for an examination. Not only getting score of test, but also learning practical English are reasons that I selected FLS.
The most important reason to learn English in FLS is conversation with native speakers. A small class number is useful to relate between teachers and students. I can positively participate in a class because I frequently have a oneto-one conversation with a teacher or another student. I became cognizant that I have increased general English ability like vocabulary and grammar through oral English. In addition, group discussion, presentation, and role-playing give a self-confidence about English to me. Also, various activities help me experience American culture and practice English from real life.
In order to achieve my aim, I am studying at FLS. There is a proverb which says "TO KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE.". As the proverb says, I'm trying my best to pass an exam and converse in English at FLS.
