My Goals by Karlyne Csuti

I arrived in FLS seven months ago with no clues of how it will be, but now I realized that it's a great experience. It might be scary at the beginning of course, because you don't know what to expect. First, you leave your country, your family and your friends, but you'll meet new people. Second, you arrive in a new place and you have to learn the way of living of that place, but with a good homestay family it will be easy. I came here trying to reach two goals and I did. The first one was to become -tore independent and confident about myself. The second one was to find what I want to do when I go back to my country. I just finished my school last year and I didn't know what to do.
My first goal was to become more independent and confident about myself. Before coming here I was very shy. It might be difficult for the FLS staff to believe, but it's true. So I decided to come here to overcome my shyness and it worked. Now I'm not afraid to talk in public and make mistakes anymore. I have to say that FLS and my homestay helped me with that because they make you confident and help you when you need it. When you arrive in a new country it's difficult to find your place, but if you really want to, you can do it. So I have done. Now I speak English fluently and I'm very confident about myself, so I can say that I made it.
The second goal was to find out what I want to do when I go back to my country. I just finished my school and I didn't know if I wanted to work or continue to study tourism in a university or college, so that gave me a year to think about it, and for that I decided to come here. If I came here, it's because when you go to school you have to learn English, and if you work, knowing English is an advantage. Since I've been here, I realized that I don't want to study or work in tourism, even though I found something else, for the last seven months I never stopped thinking that I miss my dogs, and because of that I decided that I want to become a Labrador breeder. However, English will be useful if I deal with English people or if I have to do a contest with my dogs. Now that I have found out what I really want, I'm excited to go back in my country.
In conclusion, my stay here provided me everything that I wanted: confidence, less shy, and a future job- My study in FLS also helped me to improve my English, to learn a lot of things and to make new friends all around the world. I think that now I can say that I reached my two most important goals, so I can go back home satisfied with myself for what I did during my stay in FLS and with my homestay family. The last thing I have to say is that whatever you want, you don't have to hesitate to do it. If you really want something, you are able to get it, but of course you have to have a lot of will.
