My Goals by Karlyne Csuti

I arrived in FLS seven months ago with no clues of how it will be, but now I realized that it's a great experience. It might be scary at the beginning of course, because you don't know what to expect. First, you leave your country, your family and your friends, but you'll meet new people. Second, you arrive in a new place and you have to learn the way of living of that place, but with a good homestay family it will be easy. I came here trying to reach two goals and I did. The first one was to become -tore independent and confident about myself. The second one was to find what I want to do when I go back to my country. I just finished my school last year and I didn't know what to do.
My first goal was to become more independent and confident about myself. Before coming here I was very shy. It might be difficult for the FLS staff to believe, but it's true. So I decided to come here to overcome my shyness and it worked. Now I'm not afraid to talk in public and make mistakes anymore. I have to say that FLS and my homestay helped me with that because they make you confident and help you when you need it. When you arrive in a new country it's difficult to find your place, but if you really want to, you can do it. So I have done. Now I speak English fluently and I'm very confident about myself, so I can say that I made it.
The second goal was to find out what I want to do when I go back to my country. I just finished my school and I didn't know if I wanted to work or continue to study tourism in a university or college, so that gave me a year to think about it, and for that I decided to come here. If I came here, it's because when you go to school you have to learn English, and if you work, knowing English is an advantage. Since I've been here, I realized that I don't want to study or work in tourism, even though I found something else, for the last seven months I never stopped thinking that I miss my dogs, and because of that I decided that I want to become a Labrador breeder. However, English will be useful if I deal with English people or if I have to do a contest with my dogs. Now that I have found out what I really want, I'm excited to go back in my country.
In conclusion, my stay here provided me everything that I wanted: confidence, less shy, and a future job- My study in FLS also helped me to improve my English, to learn a lot of things and to make new friends all around the world. I think that now I can say that I reached my two most important goals, so I can go back home satisfied with myself for what I did during my stay in FLS and with my homestay family. The last thing I have to say is that whatever you want, you don't have to hesitate to do it. If you really want something, you are able to get it, but of course you have to have a lot of will.

To Kill Two Birds With One Stone

I am studying English to enter graduate school in the United States. I learned Chemistry in my university and want to study it more. First, I must prepare TOEFL to apply to a school because I'm Asian. At the same time, conversations in English are also important for me to live in the U.S. for a long time.

I am interested in chemistry. I want to become a researcher in a research institute and my final goal is to become a professor, researching and teaching students in a university. So, I need TOEFL score, which is a prerequisite for foreigners, in order to continue my major. In Korea, there are many TOEFL academies which may he more efficient than FLS, because, the academy in Korea makes students improve their score in a short time. They cram students for an exam. It is not beneficial in the true sense of studying English. But FLS is based on fundamental English education and teaches students how to apply to a school in intensive programs. There are TOEFL and writing elective class. They help me to prepare myself for an examination. Not only getting score of test, but also learning practical English are reasons that I selected FLS.
The most important reason to learn English in FLS is conversation with native speakers. A small class number is useful to relate between teachers and students. I can positively participate in a class because I frequently have a oneto-one conversation with a teacher or another student. I became cognizant that I have increased general English ability like vocabulary and grammar through oral English. In addition, group discussion, presentation, and role-playing give a self-confidence about English to me. Also, various activities help me experience American culture and practice English from real life.
In order to achieve my aim, I am studying at FLS. There is a proverb which says "TO KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE.". As the proverb says, I'm trying my best to pass an exam and converse in English at FLS.

FLS Enriches My Life

I will take MBA classes this June, but my English level is not good enough to communicate with Americans very well. As a result, this February, I firmly decided to study at FLS, a language institution praised by many people, in order to improve my English. I was expectant and excited about starting my FLS class. Although I have studied at FLS for only two months, I know everything at FLS is more than what I expected before.

Since I entered FLS, I have never regretted my decision because the classes offered by FLS are all fantastic. I really learn a lot of useful vocabulary and grammar in my core class. My listening and speaking abilities have also improved a lot. Besides, Business English class really helped me learn a lot of business terms, which are important and practical in the MBA program. More than that, I learn much about American culture, such as food, weddings, histories, festivals, and life styles from American Culture class. Getting this kind of information is a good way to get along with Americans, understand them more, and melt into their culture and lives easily.

In addition, one of the reasons I want to speak English well is so that I can make many friends from other countries. I am achieving this goal at FLS because I am really making many good foreign friends here. We always talk about the differences between each country and from these conversations I really get a lot of interesting information. The longer I get along with my new friends, the more I like them. It’s a good experience to meet so many different people and I think I will keep in contact with these new friends and never forget them.

In conclusion, I am sure FLS is a good place to improve English and make many true friends. I know I have progressed in learning English because of the perfect classes at FLS. I will continue to expect to speak English as fluently as a native speaker.
