Meet Isaac Silva Pinero. He was at FLS Citrus College during summer 2014. He flew in from Brazil to take California by a storm. He was one of the few chosen students that received the course at FLS Citrus as a reward for great academic achievements. As any great student he had his own goal to improve his speaking skills and the level of understanding.

As he looked back on his experience with FLS Citrus he said that his favorite class was with Lisa Yamasaki as she build a great relationship with the students and the atmosphere “made them feel free to express their feelings and opinions.”

Another thing that stuck with him was the most difficult part of his stay here he says: “The most difficult part it was the goodbye haha, I think it was to make friends from other countries, since the language was an obstacle, but this was the funniest part also due to the errors of pronunciation and confusion of words, which made us more comfortable.”.

'The most difficult part it was the goodbye'

Isaac also told me that man friendships were created during his stay at FLS and some of them are still continuing to this day. He mentioned several times the Farai family which in his mind made the stay even more excellent.

Three years later he is studying at a college in Brazil and will major in accounting. Due to the experience at FLS and his improved English he was hired by an TMF Group focused on outsourcing in accounting. As life goes on he has met his better half and is planning on moving out to an English speaking country where they can continue to build their life together. He also hopes to visit Glendora one day to revisit great memories he has created.
